Hi, I’m Donna Hawkins. I live in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in regional Western Australia, and I’m a mum of six raising a family in a place that’s hot, dry, dusty, and beautiful in its own way.
You Beaut Co began because of the conditions we live in here.
I keep bees, grow vegetables, bake sourdough, preserve food, and make practical household staples. I’ve always been a resourceful person by nature, not because it’s fashionable, but because it’s how I’ve always approached things.
You Beaut Co is where that resourcefulness turned into something I could share.
how it started
When we moved to Kalgoorlie in 2024, I noticed quickly how different the climate was on skin. The wind, heat, dust, and constant air-conditioning were relentless, especially on my lips. I was reapplying lip balm all day and still ending up cracked and sore.
Most products felt like they were made for milder places. Not for red dirt, dry air, and 40 degree days.
So I went back to basics and started making my own. Simple ingredients, chosen for function. A lip balm that actually held up where I live.
That same practical instinct runs through everything I do — if something is not working, I make a better version of it myself.
What You Beaut Co Is
Most products and resources are built for women who live near a city. Near good shops. Near mild weather. Near everything.
If that’s not you, you already know how much of what’s out there just doesn’t work for your life.
That’s why I built this. You Beaut Co is for women living somewhere real, getting on with it, who want practical things that actually work in the conditions they live in.
There are three ways to be part of it:
Shop the drops – small-batch products made from scratch and released in limited drops. Lip balm, preserves, sourdough, soap, honey and more. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
Book a workshop – I run hands-on workshops across the Goldfields. Sourdough, preserving, lip balm making, soap and more. I come to you – your home, your workplace, your community hall. You sort the group, I bring everything else. Perfect for hens days, FIFO catch-ups, community groups, shire events and corporate team bonding. Not a polished cooking class. A real morning, with real skills, from someone who actually lives in the same conditions you do.

A bit more about me
For most of my life I’ve lived in country WA – Wagin, Katanning, Margaret River, and now Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Before You Beaut Co I spent more than 15 years in hospitality, helping run motels and pubs across regional WA. I know what it takes to make things work far from the city.
I’m drawn to things that are genuinely useful. I’m not interested in trends, hype, or products that look good but fall apart once real weather gets involved.
I have six kids, a beehive, a sourdough starter that is doing very well, and a pantry I’m very proud of.
